BNPB: Drought Impact in Bogor Regency Expands to 16,000 Households

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has reported that the impact of the drought and the reduction in clean water supply due to the dry season in Bogor Regency, West Java, is increasingly widespread, affecting at least 16,291 households or 52,602 people since early July 2026. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) continues to distribute clean water supplies periodically to meet the daily needs of the affected communities. “Officers in the field continue to move to distribute clean water aid to villages experiencing a water supply crisis due to the dry season,” he said. Abdul Muhari explained that the latest deployment of water tanker fleets targeted several residential areas in three different sub-districts that have experienced a significant drop in water discharge. In addition, 2,500 litres of clean water were distributed to Gadog Village in Megamendung Sub-district, and 5,000 litres were sent to residents in Sukajaya Village, Sukajaya Sub-district. Abdul Muhari confirmed that the threat of drought due to the peak of the dry season in West Java is also being monitored by the BNPB’s Directorate of Operations Control. Therefore, the BNPB continues to coordinate with the Bogor Regency BPBD to ensure the availability of clean water distribution fleets and a guaranteed supply of potable water for affected residents.
