BNPB distributes 540 aid packages to earthquake victims in Buol, Central Sulawesi
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has distributed 540 logistical aid packages and equipment to communities affected by the earthquake in Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi, to meet residents’ basic needs during the emergency response period.
Buol Deputy Regent Moh. Nasir Dj. Daimaroto stated that all aid will be provided to affected communities as an effort to fulfil basic needs and accelerate the post-disaster recovery process.
“The aid from BNPB consists of 100 family kits, 35 family tents, 100 ready-to-eat meal packages, 100 basic food packages, 100 tarpaulins, 100 blankets, and 5 generator sets to support community needs during the emergency response period,” Nasir said whilst distributing aid in Leok I Village, Buol, on Tuesday.
He confirmed that the distribution of aid is being carried out in a targeted and transparent manner to ease the burden on residents in the area.
“The local government continues to strengthen synergy with BNPB, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and all relevant stakeholders in the post-disaster recovery process in Buol Regency,” he stated.
He expressed hope that all aid would be received by residents who genuinely need it. According to him, based on information from the local government, the distribution involved all cross-sectoral parties by prioritising areas and residents with the most urgent needs.
“This step is a manifestation of the government’s presence in ensuring that affected communities receive assistance quickly, whilst also accelerating the post-earthquake recovery process in Buol Regency,” he said.
According to data from the Buol Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), a number of infrastructure facilities suffered damage due to the earthquake, including the public service mall office, part of the patient care room at the Buol Regional General Hospital, the inspectorate office, residents’ houses in Kali Village, and other business premises.
