The number of fatalities from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has reached 47 people. The figure is based on provisional data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Saturday (15/8/2026) at 18.48 WIB.

The 47 fatalities were recorded in Manggarai (24 people), East Manggarai (17 people), Sikka (3 people), Ngada (1 person) and Ende (1 person). In addition to these casualties, officers have evacuated and provided medical treatment to the injured.

“Rapid assessment of the impact of the M 7.7 earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) is still being carried out by joint officers,” said Acting Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Disaster Communication Centre, Berton SP Panjaitan, in a press release.

Meanwhile, provisional data as of 17.00 WIB showed that 157 houses were damaged, comprising 41 with moderate damage and 148 with light damage. Damage also occurred to public facilities, including educational facilities (87 units), health facilities (18 units), places of worship (5 units), offices (6 units) and a number of other public facilities.

BNPB, Berton explained, has sent food and non-food aid to the disaster area. A number of aid items were dispatched through the logistics warehouse in East Flores, NTT.

In addition, BNPB has also sent aid through the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base operations base in Jakarta. The total aid amounts to 50,000 packages weighing 275 tonnes. Currently, 10,500 packages that have arrived at the base operations come from the Cabinet Secretariat.
