BNPB and BMKG Conduct Cloud Seeding to Tackle Forest Fires in Aceh

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), assisted by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), is carrying out a Weather Modification Operation (OMC) using a Cessna Grand Caravan EX 208/PK-JVH aircraft. The seeding of sodium chloride (NaCl) is being conducted on a radial of 130 to 160 degrees and a bearing of 130 degrees at 90 Nautical miles, flying at an altitude of 5,000 to 10,000 feet. The operation aims to manage rainfall as part of efforts to tackle forest and land fires (karhutla) in West Aceh Regency, Nagan Raya, and North Aceh Regency.
