BNPB Accelerates Construction of 50 Temporary Shelters in Nokilalaki, Sigi

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has begun constructing 50 temporary shelters (huntara) for earthquake victims in Kamarora Village, Nokilalaki District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. Sigi Regent Moh Rizal Intjenae stated that the groundbreaking for the first phase of 50 units took place on Wednesday, located on the respective plots of affected residents. He noted that the current data of 50 shelters will be promptly updated. Meanwhile, Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Disaster Communication Centre, explained that the shelter construction is a crucial step in accelerating recovery for the earthquake-affected community. Muhari confirmed that the Sigi Regency Government has provided ‘By Name By Address’ data through an official decree listing recipients for the first phase of shelter assistance. He added that the verification and validation process for subsequent phases is still ongoing. The infrastructure repairs are supported by funding from Central Sulawesi’s PUM. Muhari said all emergency response efforts continue to be carried out by the regional government together with BNPB, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police, the Regional Disaster Management Agency, and other relevant elements, including gabion installations and repairs to the clean water network in Nokilalaki. According to data from the Sigi Earthquake Emergency Response Task Force as of Tuesday, 23 June, at 18:00 Central Indonesia Time, the earthquake damaged at least 3,032 homes, comprising 1,959 with minor damage, 796 with moderate damage, and 277 with severe damage. The human toll includes 14 seriously injured, 78 with minor injuries, and three fatalities.
