BNPB: 363,800 litres of clean water aid drought survivors in Malang

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has recorded that 363,800 litres of clean water were distributed from 8 to 23 August 2026 to assist drought survivors in Malang Regency, East Java.

Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Centre, Berton SP Panjaitan, said in Jakarta on Monday that the clean water distribution was carried out to meet the basic needs of the community due to the shrinking of their water sources during this dry season.

“The reduced rainfall intensity has left residents unable to meet their daily needs,” he said.

To that end, he assured that the distribution of clean water aid from the government and relevant agencies in the region would be intensified according to demand and field conditions.

BNPB last confirmed on Sunday (23/8) that a joint task force team had again distributed 20,000 litres of clean water aid.

At least 10,364 people in Malang Regency have benefited from the clean water aid, the distribution of which involved personnel from the Malang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

The distribution areas include Sumberagung Village and Sitiarjo Village in Sumawe District, Tumpakrejo Village in Gedangan District, and Karangkates Village in Sumberpucung District.

“To meet the basic needs of the community, the Malang Regency BPBD together with PMI and related elements continue to distribute clean water,” he said.
