BNPB: 15 Districts Directly Impacted by Krakatau Eruption

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has identified 15 districts in three regencies that are directly impacted by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. The mapping of the affected areas covers regions within the provinces of Lampung and Banten.

The Head of BNPB, Suharyanto, noted the distribution of locations exposed to the volcanic activity. He also ensured that coordination with local government agencies continues intensively to monitor the condition of the community from time to time.

“First, we are providing preliminary data—I emphasise that this is preliminary data we have collected. Those affected by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau are located in three regencies and 15 districts,” Suharyanto stated during an online press conference on Sunday (6/9/2026).

The details of the 15 districts affected by the eruption are as follows:

• South Lampung Regency (7 Districts): Punduh Pedada, Rajabula, Kalianda, Ketapang, Bakauheni, Sidomulyo, and Katibung.

• Pandeglang Regency (4 Districts): Carita, Labuan, Panimbang, and Jiput.

• Tanggamus Regency (4 Districts): Pematang Sawah, Cukuh Balak, Semaka, and Kota Agung.

To date, the agency has not received any reports regarding fatalities resulting from the eruption. However, the dispersal of volcanic ash is reported to reach wider areas, including the provinces of DKI Jakarta, Banten, and Lampung in general.

“All reports indicate that no fatalities have been reported so far. Data collection regarding physical damage is still ongoing,” he explained.

To accelerate field handling, BNPB has dispatched an advance team consisting of 10 personnel to the disaster site in the first phase. The team is tasked with monitoring situational developments regularly to take necessary emergency measures for the safety of residents.

“BNPB has already sent an advance team to the disaster area; in the first stage, we have sent ten personnel,” he concluded.
