Jakarta — The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) announced that 133 households from Rigeb village, Dabun Gelang district, Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh, have relocated from emergency tents to temporary shelter (huntara) built by the government as part of post-disaster recovery operations.

BNPB Head Suharyanto stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the relocation from emergency tent shelters to temporary housing was conducted to provide decent accommodation for affected communities. Residents now occupying the temporary shelter are receiving basic supplies and non-food assistance to meet their basic needs for ten days, or at least until they receive livelihood assistance from the central government.

During his visit, Suharyanto met with residents and inspected the temporary shelter conditions now occupied by several families. He expressed hope that the temporary shelter would provide comfort to residents, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

The temporary shelter built by BNPB features communal residential blocks equipped with basic facilities, including water supply and electricity as well as bathrooms and toilets in each unit. The communal housing concept was chosen due to limited land availability, after many residents lost their homes due to major flooding that struck the region in late November 2025.
