BNNP Central Java Raids Tegal Nightspot, Nine Test Positive for Narcotics
A joint team from the Central Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) and BNN Tegal City conducted a targeted raid and early detection operation through urine testing at THM 101 Biliard & Cafe in Tegal City. The operation, which took place from Wednesday to Thursday, 12–13 August 2026, was led by the Head of BNN Tegal City, Kunarto. The activity began with an appeal regarding the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) programme, followed by limited and targeted health examinations via urine tests due to the availability of testing kits. Those examined included employees, mami, and ladies’ company (LC) staff. The team also searched personal belongings, rest areas, and lockers within the establishment. Out of 19 individuals tested, 9 people—1 man and 8 women—were confirmed positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine (ecstasy). During the search, officers seized evidence including 3 ecstasy pills, 2 plastic clips containing methamphetamine residue, 2 bongs, 2 glass pipes, and 1 used straw. The nine individuals who tested positive are currently being detained at the BNN Tegal City office and will be transferred to the Central Java BNN office in Semarang for further processing. Head of BNN Tegal City, Kunarto, stated that this action is concrete proof of the agency’s seriousness in keeping Tegal City, particularly its entertainment venues, clean and free from narcotics. He noted that the findings demonstrate the need to continuously strengthen supervision and enforcement, as the threat of drugs can infiltrate any location. He emphasised that the action was taken not to punish, but to save lives and as part of their responsibility in the P4GN effort. He also reminded all business operators and residents of Tegal City not to allow entertainment venues to be used for unlawful acts, urging the community to work together to protect the environment and prevent drugs from destroying the future of the region. The operation reaffirmed the commitment of BNN Central Java and BNN Tegal City to strengthen synergy in law enforcement, prevention, eradication, and rehabilitation for drug abusers, with the hope of increasing public vigilance and supporting the realisation of a drug-free Tegal City.
