BNN Uncovers Drug Cases Worth Rp 211.4 Billion, 31 Suspects Detained
The National Narcotics Board (BNN) has uncovered numerous narcotics cases during ‘Operation Sapu Bersih’ (Saber) across various regions in Indonesia. In this operation, a total of 31 suspects were arrested, with the seized narcotics having an estimated economic value of Rp 211.4 billion.
Acting Deputy for Eradication at BNN, Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan, stated that this breakthrough was the result of collaboration with the police, Customs, and other agencies. The operations were conducted in North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, Jakarta, West Sumatra, Aceh, Sulawesi, East Java, Riau, and the Riau Islands.
“We have successfully seized evidence that could potentially protect 353,312 lives from drug abuse. In terms of public economic impact, the value is approximately Rp 211.4 billion,” said Roy during a press conference at the BNN Office in Cawang, Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/5/2026).
During Operation Saber, the BNN seized evidence including 136.5 kg of methamphetamine (sabu), 147 kg of cannabis, 1,260 ml of etomidate, 1,029 grams of ketamine, and 6,681 ecstasy pills.
Key drug networks uncovered by the BNN include:
- Aceh-Bogor Methamphetamine Network
The BNN uncovered a methamphetamine network operating between Aceh and Bogor, seizing 29 kg of the drug. On Tuesday (19/5) at approximately 04:30 WIB, officers intercepted three suspects (TA, Y, and I) at a minimarket parking lot in Parung Panjang, Bogor. The drugs, disguised in green Chinese tea packaging, were being transported from Langsa, Aceh, to the Greater Jakarta area via land routes and the Bakauheni-Merak ferry crossing.
- Labuhanbatu Drug Bust
Responding to local concerns regarding drug circulation in Aek Kanopan Timur, Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra, the BNN conducted investigations that identified a controller known as WW, who is currently on the most wanted list (DPO). One perpetrator, RT, was apprehended, and 0.90 grams of methamphetamine were seized.
- East Kalimantan Network
The BNN dismantled the network of fugitive Faturahman in East Kalimantan on 7 May 2026. Officers arrested four individuals (IP, RA, RM, and MA) and seized approximately 92.1 kg of methamphetamine, along with 1,000 vape cartridges containing etomidate. The suspects used two vehicles, one acting as an escort and the other transporting the narcotics hidden in suitcases and plastic-lined boxes.
- Golden Triangle Network
The BNN, alongside Customs, uncovered a transnational network using expedition services and ‘flying couriers’ to distribute drugs. In one instance, 10 packages of methamphetamine originating from Laos were intercepted in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, sent using fictitious identities. Additionally, two couriers (AA and DN) were arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport carrying 3.986 grams of methamphetamine intended for Lombok. Another operation in Central Jakarta led to the seizure of 7.159 grams of methamphetamine being repackaged in a hotel room, allegedly controlled by fugitive KB, intended for distribution in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. Total methamphetamine seized from these transnational operations amounted to approximately 13 kg.
- West Sumatra Cannabis Network
