BNN States Sports Trend Drives Shift Towards Positive Lifestyle
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) states that the current sports trend embraced by the public is driving a shift in lifestyle towards a more positive direction.
At the closing ceremony of the Padel Tournament Piala Bersinar 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday (3/5), BNN Chief Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto urged all elements of the nation to stay away from narcotics by adopting sports as a lifestyle.
“This is a concrete step towards Indonesia Bersinar and realising the Golden Generation 2045,” said Suyudi, as quoted from a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Monday.
He acknowledged that BNN is using the padel sports trend as an opportune moment to hold the Padel Tournament Piala Bersinar 2026 from Friday (1/5) to Sunday (3/5).
He emphasised that BNN is striving to shift the prevention paradigm to one that is more humane, educational, and preventive, by involving young people in positive activities such as padel tournaments.
Therefore, the tournament is seen as part of a strategy for a more humane and relevant approach in campaigning for a healthy life free from drugs.
Suyudi also appreciated the high enthusiasm of participants and support from various parties during the tournament. A total of 312 participants competed in 12 categories, upholding sportsmanship.
The large number of participants, he added, makes the tournament not just a competition, but also a means of education and inspiration for the younger generation to stay away from narcotics.
The BNN Chief hopes the tournament can be held continuously and become an inspiration for the wider community.
On the same occasion, Presidential Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers Raffi Ahmad expressed his support for BNN’s efforts in providing positive activities for the younger generation.
He assessed that the approach through sports is effective in raising awareness of the importance of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle, while also strengthening cross-sector collaboration in supporting the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) movement.
He also emphasised the importance of a humane approach by embracing addicts so they can access rehabilitation services.
