Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) during an audience with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) in Jakarta on Friday (10/4) stated that the development of digital technology has influenced the patterns of illicit narcotics trafficking. “Illicit narcotics trafficking is now increasingly utilising cyberspace, including through social media and hidden networks,” said Head of BNN, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, on that occasion, as quoted from a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. Therefore, he assessed that synergy with BSSN is very important in supporting early detection efforts and improving responses to various potential threats in the digital space. The audience between the two parties represents a strategic step to strengthen inter-state agency synergy, particularly in facing the increasingly complex challenges of narcotics crime in the digital era. The activity serves as an important momentum in building more integrated collaboration, especially in strengthening cyber security in systems and information technology infrastructure that support the implementation of BNN’s duties and functions. In the meeting, both parties discussed several strategic issues, including enhancing data and information exchange to support intelligence activities and law enforcement, strengthening cyber security systems, and developing human resource capacity in the fields of cyber security and cryptography. Meanwhile, Head of BSSN, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, also expressed his commitment to supporting BNN’s efforts through the strengthening of the national cyber security system, including data protection and improving technical capabilities in facing increasingly dynamic cyber threats. “We are ready to strengthen collaboration with BNN through the integration of cyber security systems and improving technical capacity, to ensure data protection and support the effectiveness of law enforcement in the digital era,” said Nugroho on the same occasion. Through the audience, it is hoped that closer and more sustainable cooperation will be established between BNN and BSSN in order to maintain national security, both from narcotics threats and potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace.
