Currently, drug syndicates continue to innovate, one of which is by inserting prohibited substances into e-cigarette liquids. Palembang (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) is vigorously conducting education for the public to increase vigilance against the new modus operandi of dark narcotics circulation through e-cigarette or vape liquids. Head of BNN Sumsel, Brigadier General of Police Hisar Siallagan in Palembang on Thursday, stated that this anticipatory step is taken following the emergence of a trend in the misuse of a new type of narcotics disguised in the form of vape liquid to target the younger generation. “We urge the public, especially parents, to be more observant in monitoring vape use in the family environment. Currently, drug syndicates continue to innovate, one of which is by inserting prohibited substances into e-cigarette liquids,” he said. He mentioned that the products are usually sold illegally or through closed networks without labels, without distribution permits, or clear composition information on the packaging. One of the most striking characteristics is the extremely high price. If ordinary liquid is sold for around hundreds of thousands of rupiah, then this narcotics-infused vape can be priced up to Rp5 million. As for the extreme side effects, users will experience hallucinatory effects, unusual dizziness, to a drastic decrease in consciousness, different from the usual nicotine effects. This aims to prevent the public from falling into curiosity that leads to dependency on prohibited drugs. “Do not be easily tempted by products that offer ‘fly’ effects or different sensations at unreasonable prices. If you find products with those characteristics, immediately report to the authorities,” he emphasised.
