Jakarta — Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed 34.21 kilogrammes of seized narcotics evidence in Jakarta on Tuesday, potentially saving 147,340 lives.

Acting Deputy for Narcotics Eradication at BNN RI, Brigadier General Roy Hardi, stated that the narcotics evidence came from the investigation of nine cases involving 13 suspects.

“Various types of narcotics were involved, including methamphetamine, ecstasy, and mephedrone, which we had seized and destroyed,” said Brigadier General Roy during the evidence destruction press conference.

He detailed the destroyed narcotics as comprising 27.73 kg of methamphetamine; 1.83 kg of ecstasy (3,916 tablets); 0.64 kg of solid mephedrone; 7,247 millilitres of liquid mephedrone; 24,722 millilitres of liquid precursor; 4 kg of solid chemical; and 198,129 millilitres of liquid chemical.

Prior to destruction, some evidence was retained for laboratory testing: 192 grammes of methamphetamine; 77.6 grammes of ecstasy (164 tablets); 0.4 grammes of solid mephedrone; 3 millilitres of liquid mephedrone; 3 millilitres of liquid precursor; 0.5 grammes of solid chemical; and 528 millilitres of liquid chemical.

Roy explained that the nine uncovered cases fell into three categories: parcel senders entering customs checkpoints, “flying couriers” apprehended at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and a clandestine narcotics laboratory in Bali.

In the first category, Narcotics Case Report (LKN)/0006 originated from Customs officers at Pasar Baru, Jakarta, on 18 February 2026, when a suspicious parcel was discovered containing MDMA (ecstasy). Officers conducted controlled delivery surveillance to an address in Kampung Cibatu, Cikarang, where a suspect with initials AZ was arrested whilst collecting a package containing six plastic bundles of ecstasy.

“From interrogation, the suspect admitted he was instructed by a foreign national with initials AFAM, believed to be part of an international network,” Roy stated.

The second category involved seven cases (LKN/0007 through LKN/0013) at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten, between 21 February and 4 March 2026, resulting in seizure of methamphetamine. Ten suspects with initials SF, JF, BK, MA, MS, MB, RM, JZ, MN, and SF were detained.

The third category (LKN/0014-P2) involved a joint BNN, Customs, and Immigration operation that dismantled a clandestine narcotics laboratory operated by a Russian national in Gianyar, Bali. The operation, conducted on 5–6 March 2026, began with suspicious packages from China sent to the Gianyar Post Office in January using fraudulent data. On 5 March 2026 at approximately 23:45 WITA, a woman with initials NT, who produced mephedrone with assistance from a man with initials ST, was apprehended.
