BNN Reveals Kampung Bahari Drug Lords Armed with Illegal Firearms to Resist Raids
The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has revealed that major drug lords operating in Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, have armed themselves with illegally purchased firearms to resist arrest during police operations. “The big bosses in Kampung Bahari have prepared themselves by buying illegal firearms to fight officers and orchestrate resistance if a raid is conducted in Kampung Bahari,” said BNN Director of Enforcement and Pursuit, Brigadier General Roy Hardy Siahaan, to reporters on Friday (14/8).
On Wednesday (12/8), BNN officers arrested a drug kingpin from Kampung Bahari, identified by the initials MR and nicknamed ‘Bos Gendut’ (Fat Boss), at a beauty salon in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta. During questioning, the suspect admitted to having evidence, including weapons, stored at his residence. Based on this information, officers conducted a raid in Kampung Bahari on Thursday (13/8).
“Based on the statement from Bos G, at his house there was still 1 kg of crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, vape liquid, cash, and a Glock pistol. Consequently, the BNN RI team searched the house with assistance from the Metro Jaya Police Mobile Brigade,” Roy stated.
In addition to the suspect’s house, Roy mentioned that his team also searched the homes of two other major dealers operating in Kampung Bahari. “The team also searched the houses of major Kampung Bahari dealers, Arif alias Lopes and Kimmul. According to information, they all possess firearms,” Roy said.
Roy further disclosed that besides arming themselves with firearms, the major drug dealers in Kampung Bahari also prepared their loyalists to fight officers during any enforcement operation. “They use children and loyalists with firecrackers and throw stones from the railway tracks,” Roy explained.
Previously, BNN had arrested the Kampung Bahari drug lord MR, known as Bos Gendut, at a beauty salon in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, on Wednesday night (12/8). He was apprehended after officers tailed him as he left Kampung Bahari. “One of these drug lords, a fugitive related to a narcotics case from 7 November 2025, named MR or Bos Gendut, is a drug lord entrenched in Kampung Bahari,” Roy said on Thursday (13/8).
Roy stated that Bos Gendut was involved in a case concerning the possession of 98 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, firearms, and several gold bars, among other items. Roy also conveyed that his party has further developed the investigation into alleged money laundering crimes committed by Bos Gendut. In relation to the money laundering case, BNN has seized Rp1.277 billion in cash and assets belonging to Bos Gendut estimated to be worth Rp39.950 billion.
