BNN: Regional Government Support Through Grants a Tangible Commitment to Eradicating Drugs
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia has affirmed that support from regional governments through land and building grants is a concrete manifestation of a joint commitment to strengthening BNN’s institutions in order to eradicate narcotics.
During an audience with the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7), BNN chief Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto said that synergy between the central and regional governments is an important factor in improving the effectiveness of narcotics abuse prevention and illicit trafficking eradication (P4GN) throughout Indonesia.
“It is hoped that collaborations like this can improve the effectiveness of BNN’s duties in protecting the public from the threat of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking,” said Commissioner General Suyudi, as quoted from a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The BNN chief also expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government and the district governments in the province, which have provided tangible support for institutional strengthening.
Accordingly, the provincial government together with the district governments in Central Kalimantan have committed to supporting the strengthening of BNN’s institutions through the granting of land and buildings.
“Central Kalimantan has a very large and strategic area, so strengthening BNN’s presence in the region is necessary,” said Edy.
With BNN established in five districts, he is optimistic that prevention, eradication, rehabilitation, and community empowerment efforts can run more optimally, making narcotics eradication in Central Kalimantan increasingly effective.
The audience was held in connection with the granting of land and buildings to support the strengthening of BNN’s institutions in the regions.
The event also discussed the commitment of the provincial and district governments in Central Kalimantan to supporting the P4GN programme through the granting of land and buildings to BNN.
The grants are expected to strengthen BNN’s facilities and infrastructure in improving services to the public as well as the effectiveness of its duties in the regions.
The audience was attended by regional heads from five districts in Central Kalimantan, namely Regent of East Barito Yamin, Regent of Gunung Mas Jaya Samaya Monong, Regent of Katingan Saiful, Regent of South Barito Eddy Raya Samsuri, and the Regional Secretary of Seruyan District, Bahrun Abbas, representing the Regent of Seruyan.
