The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia is currently giving special attention to the issue of child protection through the National Anti-Narcotics Movement Starting from Drug-Free Children (Ananda Bersinar).

BNN Chief Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto stated that BNN and the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) share many overlapping duties that can be synergised in efforts to protect the nation’s generation.

“This shared focus opens up broad opportunities for both institutions to develop various collaborative programmes, including for the commemoration of International Anti-Narcotics Day (HANI), which falls close to National Children’s Day,” said Commissioner General Suyudi in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.

Ananda Bersinar is a strategic programme and nationwide educational campaign initiated by BNN to protect the younger generation from narcotics abuse from an early age.

For this year’s HANI commemoration, he noted that BNN is not holding a large ceremonial event, and therefore wishes to partner with the Ministry of PPPA to collaborate on delivering activities that have a greater impact on the community.

To this end, during an audience in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6), both parties discussed plans for collaboration on the commemoration of National Children’s Day and HANI 2026, while also exploring the renewal of cooperation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a cooperation agreement (PKS).

On that occasion, Minister of PPPA Arifatul Choiri Fauzi welcomed the invitation and affirmed that both institutions share the same goal of protecting children from various threats, including narcotics.

“The goals we aim to achieve are essentially the same. I see that many programmes and various efforts run by the Ministry of PPPA can be synergised with BNN’s programmes to provide broader benefits,” said Arifatul.

In addition to discussing activities for the commemoration of National Children’s Day and HANI, both parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation through the renewal of the MoU, which expired in 2025.

To follow up on the cooperation plan, BNN and the Ministry of PPPA will also form a joint team to prepare various collaborative programmes on an ongoing basis at both the central and regional levels.
