BNN Hunts Nigerian National Suspected of Controlling Ecstasy Smuggling Operation via Wedding Dress Packages

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Directorate General of Customs have uncovered a drug smuggling operation involving ecstasy hidden inside wedding dress packages. BNN is currently pursuing the mastermind behind the operation.

In this operation, BNN apprehended AFZ, who received the ecstasy, a type of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), from a Nigerian national with the initials A. The Nigerian national is now being hunted.

“The key to understanding AFZ’s movements, who has been apprehended, is that he was controlled by A, a Nigerian national,” said Acting Deputy for Eradication of BNN, Brigadier General Pol Roy Hardi Siahaan, at the Jakarta Customs Office, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Roy stated that they are currently developing this case. He suspects that A is in Malaysia.

“Therefore, AFZ, who we have secured, is merely an accomplice. He received the drugs and was then controlled by A, the Nigerian national, who we have identified as being in Malaysia,” he explained.

“In the future, if we manage to apprehend this individual, we will also analyze the evidence from his mobile phone and further investigate,” he said.

Roy mentioned that the ecstasy packages smuggled through the wedding dress originated from Luxembourg.

“Why do I say this is an international network? Because the package was stated to be from Luxembourg. Luxembourg is one of the countries in Western Europe,” he said.

In this case, 4,080 MDMA pills were found. The drugs were smuggled as wedding attire.

“We can confirm that there was a suspicious package from abroad declared as a wedding dress,” said Director of Narcotics Interdiction of Customs, R Syarif Hidayat.

“And upon testing, it was confirmed to be a Class I narcotic of the MDMA type, or methylenedioxymethamphetamine. The total amount is 4,080 MDMA pills, which, when weighed, is approximately 1.9072 kilograms, a significant amount.”(idn/idn)
