Tangerang — The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Tangerang City, Banten, reported that urine tests on 180 airline cabin crew members at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport tested negative for drug abuse.

“Based on screening results conducted, all cabin crew members who underwent examination tested negative for drug abuse,” said Tangerang City BNN Head Police Commissioner Josephien Vivick Tjangkung in a statement in Tangerang on Tuesday.

He stated that the 180 cabin crew members, comprising pilots, flight attendants, stewards, and airline staff, had previously undergone urine rapid testing with seven parameters. Participants came from several airlines including Wings Air, Lion Air, Super Air Jet, Batik Air, and Citilink.

The activity was carried out as an early detection measure for drug abuse whilst ensuring flight safety during the Eid holiday travel period in 2026.

Beyond this, the activity forms part of efforts to ensure flight safety and provide a sense of security and comfort for the public, particularly ahead of the Eid holiday travel period.

“We want to ensure that pilots, flight attendants, and stewards are genuinely in a condition free from narcotics so they can provide the best service to the public,” he said.

The urine test implementation was led by Senior Investigator Police Commissioner Agus Purwa Saptono representing the Acting Head of BNN Banten Province, accompanied by representatives from Tangerang City Regional Stability and Political Affairs Office and the Soekarno-Hatta Regional Airport Authority Office, along with staff from BNN Banten Province and BNN Tangerang City.
