BNN emphasises need for cross-sector involvement in drug eradication
The National Narcotics Board (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia has emphasised that the eradication of drugs cannot rely solely on law enforcement, but requires the involvement of various parties.
The Head of BNN RI, Inspector General Pol. Suyudi Ario Seto, stated that the government, the education sector, the community, families, and the youth must be actively involved in drug eradication efforts.
“This is why it is important to build awareness and resilience among the younger generation against the threat of narcotics,” Suyudi said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, the involvement of various stakeholders is becoming increasingly vital as various methods of narcotics distribution continue to evolve.
During several working visits, including to Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Suyudi warned the public about the threat of narcotics abuse in liquid form through electronic cigarettes or vapes.
He stated that this message needs to become a collective movement that grows within educational environments, families, communities, and various development elements in Central Kalimantan.
The public lecture also served as a space for education and character building for the younger generation, enabling them to act as pioneers and a bulwark against drug abuse prevention.
The agenda was also held in conjunction with the signing of the Handover Certificate (BAST) for grants and the presentation of awards in the field of Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics (P4GN).
The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, together with BNN RI, continues to encourage the strengthening of cross-sector synergy in the implementation of P4GN as part of the effort to realise ‘Kalteng Bersinar’ or ‘Clean from Drugs’ in Central Kalimantan.
This commitment is further strengthened through the involvement of the younger generation in various drug prevention and eradication activities in Central Kalimantan.
