BNN Dismantles Hashish Smuggling Ring and Arrests Two Russian Nationals

The National Narcotics Board (BNN) has arrested two Russian nationals in Bangli Regency, Bali, and seized a significant quantity of hashish. BNN Head, Inspector General Suyudi Ario Seto, stated that the operation, conducted across four locations on Friday, 5 June 2026, successfully detained Kochetkova Kira (51) and Sergei Khlebushchev (39).

“The evidence seized includes hashish with a gross weight of 7.8 kg,” Suyudi announced on Saturday, 6 June 2026.

He explained that the BNN Interdiction Directorate Team had previously coordinated with Customs after receiving information from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport regarding a suitcase containing hashish originating from Thailand and destined for Jakarta. The suitcase was carried by a passenger under the name Kochetcalova Kira, intended for distribution in Bali.

Acting swiftly, the joint task force conducted a controlled delivery operation from Jakarta to Bali, as the suspect, Kira, travelled to Bali using a rental car. She crossed via Ketapang Port at 01:30 WIB and arrived at Gilimanuk Port, Bali, at 03:00 WITA to meet Sergei.

“While passing through Jalan Dusun Kayang, Bangli District, the suspect Sergei dropped off Kochetkova Kira along with the suitcase containing narcotics, before attempting to flee in his vehicle,” he added.

Hashish is a dried and compressed form of cannabis resin. Hashish oil, an extract of cannabis, contains a THC concentration of between 15-30 per cent. The resulting product typically varies in colour from golden to brown or black. Because hashish contains a higher concentration of THC than marijuana, it is generally sold in smaller quantities. Hashish is commonly packaged in aluminium foil, while hashish oil is often stored in small glass tubes. Similar to marijuana, hashish is typically consumed by smoking, either through a pipe or mixed with tobacco. The effects on users are similar to marijuana but more intense due to the higher THC concentration.
