The National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI) destroyed 3.37 tonnes of narcotics to coincide with the commemoration of International Anti-Narcotics Day. The illicit goods were seized from various cases.

“The total evidence destroyed today amounts to 3,373,558.27 grams and 2,640 millilitres,” said BNN RI’s Deputy for Eradication, Inspector General Aswin Sipayung, reading a speech on behalf of BNN RI Chief Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto at a press conference in Bogor on Thursday (23/7/2026).

The evidence came from enforcement operations in various regions across Indonesia. The destruction process was carried out in accordance with applicable procedures and legal provisions.

“In accordance with prevailing laws and regulations, part of the evidence is set aside for case proof, laboratory testing and investigative purposes, while the remainder is destroyed,” said Aswin.

The destroyed evidence included crystal methamphetamine with an initial total weight of 8,962.32 grams, of which 90.24 grams was set aside for laboratory testing, leaving 8,872.08 grams destroyed.

“Second, hashish with an initial total weight of 3,006 grams. After 10 grams was set aside for laboratory testing, 2,996 grams was destroyed,” he explained.

Third, cannabis flower originating from Thailand, with a gross weight of 3,370,000 grams (3.37 tonnes) or a net weight of 3,097,081.2 grams. After 9,396 grams was set aside for laboratory testing, the total cannabis flower destroyed amounted to 3,087,685.2 grams.

“Fourth, precursor liquid with an initial volume of 890 millilitres. After 30 millilitres was set aside for laboratory testing, 860 millilitres of precursor liquid was destroyed. Two plastic clip packs containing methamphetamine with a total net weight of 1.4 grams were also found,” he said.

The destroyed evidence came from the uncovering of five narcotics cases. The first involved an international network of Russian nationals seized at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“Second, the discovery of a clandestine narcotics laboratory in the Padang area. Based on public information regarding suspected narcotics trafficking on Jalan Bukit Ngalau Indarung in Padang, the BNN team conducted an investigation on 23 June 2026,” he said.

Third, the smuggling of cannabis flower from Thailand in Gresik, East Java. Hundreds of suitcases and latex mattresses containing cannabis flower were secured during the operation.

“Fourth, maritime crystal methamphetamine smuggling. BNN received information about a shipment of crystal methamphetamine from Batam to Jakarta via sea route aboard the KM Kelud at Terminal Nusantara Pura, Tanjung Priok Port,” he said.

Finally, crystal methamphetamine trafficking in Bangkalan Regency, East Java. During a search, officers found evidence hidden inside a vehicle.

“This destruction activity is an important part of BNN’s efforts to break the chain of illicit narcotics distribution. BNN invites all elements of society to play an active role in the prevention and eradication of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN),” he added.

“It is hoped that all elements of society will increase their vigilance against potential threats of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking in their respective environments, and actively report any suspected narcotics crimes via the BNN call centre on 184,” Aswin concluded.
