BNN Chief: Students can only achieve their future by staying away from drugs

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, has said that the various opportunities and possibilities of the future can only be achieved if a student is able to protect themselves from the threat of narcotics.

He stressed that narcotics not only endanger health, but can also hinder achievement, damage social relationships, and threaten the future of the younger generation.

“Endless possibilities can only be achieved if students are able to protect themselves and their future from the threat of narcotics,” said Commissioner General Suyudi in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.

He also highlighted the development of electronic cigarette or vape misuse, which is now found to be used as a medium for the abuse of etomidate and other types of liquid narcotics.

According to him, students need to increase their vigilance because the modes of narcotics abuse continue to evolve and target consumption patterns that are close to the lives of the younger generation.

“Do not feel safe just because it is in the form of a vape. We must be vigilant because narcotics can now appear in forms we do not expect,” he asserted.

To continue reminding students about this matter, the Head of BNN RI attended a public lecture as part of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at Tarumanagara University (Untar), Jakarta, on Thursday (13/8).

Carrying the theme Embrace the Adventure of Endless Possibilities with the tagline Move Beyond Expectation, the activity invited new students to dare to begin their university journey, take advantage of various opportunities, and develop their potential so they can face various challenges and exceed expectations.

On that occasion, Suyudi invited students not only to protect themselves, but also to care about their friends and the campus environment.

“Look after your friends, look after your campus, is the message to jointly build a healthy, safe, and drug-free educational environment,” said the Head of BNN RI.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation, Ariawan Gunadi, invited new students to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and gain insights from the Head of BNN RI.

The public lecture is expected to serve as a provision for students to navigate campus life while preparing for the future by protecting themselves from the threat of narcotics.
