BNN Arrests Kampung Bahari Drug Lord, Governor Pramono Pledges Full Support
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has pledged full support for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) following the arrest of MR, a drug lord operating in Kampung Bahari, North Jakarta.
MR was arrested by the BNN on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. During the arrest, the BNN also seized a number of assets belonging to MR with a total value reaching Rp39.9 billion.
Pramono said the Jakarta Provincial Government provides full support for the actions of law enforcement officers, particularly the BNN, in eradicating drug trafficking in Jakarta.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government, in matters relating to drugs, whatever is done by law enforcement officers, especially the BNN, we certainly give our full support,” Pramono told reporters at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
Pramono said the arrest should serve as a lesson for the public not to become involved in drug abuse or trafficking.
Involvement in drug-related matters, Pramono said, will only bring negative consequences for one’s life in the future.
“And this is a lesson for anyone not to be trapped or involved in drug issues, which will certainly not bring any good in the future,” he said.
Pramono also stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to provide support for drug eradication efforts carried out by law enforcement officers in the Jakarta area.
It was previously reported that the flight of MR, also known as Bos Gendut, a drug lord who controlled a network in Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, has finally come to an end.
The drug fugitive was arrested by the BNN at a beauty salon in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, on Wednesday evening, 12 August 2026. MR was apprehended after officers had been tailing him since he left Kampung Bahari.
Director of Enforcement and Pursuit at the BNN, Police Brigadier General Roy Hardy Siahaan, said MR was arrested along with another person.
“We successfully arrested him at a beauty salon, and the individual was with someone who we have now secured at the BNN,” Roy told reporters on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
MR is known to have been a fugitive in a drug case since November 2025. His name came to prominence in a case involving possession of large quantities of methamphetamine and firearms.
“One of the drug lords, who is a fugitive related to a drug case on 7 November 2025 under the name MR or Bos Gendut, is a drug lord or drug boss entrenched in Kampung Bahari,” he said.
