BNN Appoints 3,717 Sobat Ananda Bersinar Members to Prevent Drugs in Schools
It is known that the inauguration of Sobat Ananda Bersinar was attended by more than 3,717 participants, including representatives from public schools. The participants consisted of 2,899 students and 818 teachers from 833 schools.
The Head of BNNP DKI Jakarta, Brigadier General of Police Awang Joko Rumitro, stated that the programme invites all schools in DKI Jakarta to send four student representatives ready to become pioneers of the anti-drug movement in schools.
“The participants inaugurated here are called Sobat Ananda Bersinar pioneers. They are expected to become leaders of the anti-drug movement in the school environment,” said Awang, quoted from the official BNN YouTube, Wednesday (6/5/2026).
Awang explained that the formation of Sobat Ananda Bersinar is based on various collected data. The data shows a real threat of drug abuse among students.
Based on the 2025 urine detection results, out of 19,381 people, hundreds of students tested positive for drugs. In addition, there are students who have used and abused alcohol, vapes, and cigarettes, which is a red flag for the government.
Through these issues, BNN formed Sobat Ananda Bersinar with a peer educator concept or peer-to-peer approach. Awang assessed that students tend to listen more to advice from their own friends, so the peer educators are expected to become agents of change for drug prevention in the school and community environment.
Meanwhile, the Head of BNN RI, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, hopes that Sobat Ananda Bersinar will become a force in supporting a Golden Indonesia 2045 free from drugs.
“This programme is not just a formality, but a real action in safeguarding the future of Indonesia’s golden generation to be clean from drug use,” said Suyudi.
According to Suyudi, currently, a hard legal approach is deemed insufficient to solve narcotics problems. The government needs to use a humane approach through education and character building from an early age, one of which is Sobat Ananda Bersinar.
“We need to use a humane approach that certainly aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programme to place drug problems as a main agenda in producing superior and characterful human resources,” he said.
Suyudi hopes that, in addition to students, teachers will also play an active role in monitoring the school environment. He emphasised that the government cannot act alone in preventing and combating drugs, thus requiring support from the community.
In addition to the 2026 Sobat Ananda Bersinar inauguration, BNN RI together with BNNP DKI Jakarta and educational units also signed an MoU as a commitment to strengthen the role of the younger generation and the school environment in realising a drug-free Indonesia.
