BNN and Santri Pasundan Strengthen the Next Generation's Resilience Against Narcotics
Jakarta – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, together with the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of Santri Pasundan, joined forces to strengthen the generation’s resilience against narcotics in a meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday, 3 March. BNN Chief Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto emphasised that Indonesia continues to face a serious threat from the circulation and misuse of narcotics, with reach extending to rural areas and educational environments. ‘The younger generation is the group most vulnerable to becoming targets of trafficking networks,’ Komjen Pol Suyudi said in remarks confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. Therefore, according to him, comprehensive preventive steps are needed through strengthening moral, spiritual, and social resilience from an early age so that the nation’s generation has a strong deterrent against narcotics. BNN continues to prioritise a comprehensive strategy that includes prevention through education and outreach, enforcement against dark narcotics trafficking networks, rehabilitation for victims of misuse, and community- and faith-based empowerment programs. Additionally, the coaching and rehabilitation approach is a shared concern to ensure those who misuse drugs can return to productive life within the community. The meeting was held as a form of institutional kinship (silaturahim) and as a strategic forum to discuss conditions and challenges in tackling narcotics issues in Indonesia, in order to strengthen synergy with the P4GN programme. The audience is expected to be a concrete step in strengthening synergy between BNN and DPP Santri Pasundan to protect the nation’s generation from narcotics threats and to reinforce social resilience. Participants from BNN RI included Deputy for Prevention Zainul Muttaqien, Acting Deputy for Community Empowerment Yuki Ruchimat, and Head of Public Relations and Protocol Putu Putera Sadana. From the Santri Pasundan side, Yusuf Sahroni, the Chairman of the PP Santri Pasundan Advisory Board, attended along with other board members.
