BNI Unveils 80th Anniversary Logo, Symbolising Service to the Nation
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has introduced its 80th anniversary logo as a symbol of the company’s long journey in serving the Indonesian people. The logo represents a spirit of service, collaboration, and BNI’s commitment to continuously accompany the financial needs of the community across generations.
Entering its eighth decade in 2026, BNI affirms its role as the nation’s first state-owned bank that has grown alongside the country. For 80 years, BNI has been present not only as a financial service provider but also as a partner to the community in various life phases, from saving and building businesses to developing enterprises and realising various financial goals.
BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan stated that the 80th anniversary is a momentum for the company to reflect on its long journey of service to the nation while strengthening its commitment to providing services relevant to the community’s needs. “Eighty years is not just an achievement, but a mandate to continue providing broader benefits to society. Through the 80th anniversary logo, we want to present a more humanistic interpretation of how BNI’s service values are present in the daily lives of Indonesians,” Putrama said in a written statement.
Putrama explained that BNI’s journey cannot be separated from its founding history on 5 July 1946, when Indonesia was building the foundations of government and economic sovereignty after independence. In that situation, R.M. Margono Djojohadikusumo initiated the establishment of a bank owned by the nation as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s economic self-esteem.
“BNI was born from a spirit of struggle and the belief that this nation needed its own bank. From the beginning, BNI was present not only to carry out banking functions but also to be part of the effort to build Indonesia’s economic self-esteem,” Putrama said.
As the first bank owned by the Republic of Indonesia, BNI played a role in the issuance of Oeang Republik Indonesia (ORI) as a symbol of the nation’s economic sovereignty. Since then, BNI has continued to grow alongside Indonesia’s journey and maintains that spirit of service in its offerings to the community.
This spirit continues to live on in BNI’s service culture today, whether through business strategy, service innovation, or the role of BNI personnel serving the community directly across various lines. These values of service and closeness to the community are what BNI has translated into the visual identity of the 80th anniversary logo. The logo interprets the number 80 as a symbol of age, journey, and a commitment to service that has been carried out consistently for eight decades.
The number 8 is central to the philosophy because it resembles the infinity symbol when viewed horizontally, depicting a spirit of service that moves continuously without stopping. Meanwhile, the number 0 symbolises wholeness and continuity, reflecting a service space that is always open to answer the community’s needs. The combination of these two numbers affirms the 80-year milestone as an important point in BNI’s journey as well as a beginning to continue broader and more sustainable service. This philosophy aligns with BNI’s spirit to keep growing with the community and delivering solutions that provide added value for the nation’s progress.
The meaning of service is also reflected in the logo’s visual elements, which depict a flowing and dynamically moving path. This element represents BNI’s motto, Swadharma Bhakti Nagara, which means serving the nation through work and the best service for the Indonesian people. Besides illustrating service values, the 80th anniversary logo reflects the sustainable collaboration between BNI, the community, business partners, and various stakeholders. The relationships built over this time form an important foundation for creating inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
BNI assesses that the logo’s philosophy is in line with the company’s commitment to presenting financial innovations and solutions that are adaptive to changing times. From generation to generation, BNI continues to strive to maintain public trust through professional, relevant services that provide tangible benefits. Visually, the use of a yellow-orange gradient in the logo symbolises the energy, optimism, and warmth that accompany BNI’s service to the community. The turquoise blue colour represents trust, stability, and professionalism as the foundation of the long-term relationship between BNI and its customers.
Going forward, the 80th anniversary logo will be the main visual identity in various communication, promotion, publication, and activation activities for BNI and its partners. The presence of the logo is expected to reinforce the message that BNI continues to embody the value of service through the spirit of ‘Melayani Sepenuh Hati’ (Serving Wholeheartedly). “Its presence is expected to strengthen the message that for eight decades, BNI has not only grown as a banking institution but has also continued to embody the value of service through the spirit of ‘Melayani Sepenuh Hati’ for the progress of society, the economy, and Indonesia,” Putrama said.
Through the 80th anniversary momentum, BNI affirms its commitment to continue carrying out Swadharma Bhakti Nagara by providing relevant, inclusive, and sustainable financial solutions. BNI stated it will continue to be present to serve the community and support Indonesia’s progress, both for today’s generation and the future.
