BNI Strengthens Security: Wondr App Inaccessible During Incoming Calls
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is strengthening customer protection against fraud risks by introducing the latest security feature in the wondr by BNI application. Through this feature, the application cannot be accessed when the user’s phone is receiving an incoming call. BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that this innovation serves as a preventive step to anticipate the proliferation of fraud methods that exploit telephone communication. “We are presenting this feature as a preventive measure to protect customers from various fraud methods that utilise telephone communication,” said Okki. He explained that when the phone receives an incoming call, the wondr by BNI application will automatically lock and display a notification ‘Finish Your Call First’. Thus, customers cannot conduct transactions during the call. According to Okki, this feature is designed to reduce fraud risks that often occur when perpetrators ask victims to stay on the phone line while directing them to perform transactions or share sensitive data. In practice, fraudsters typically request secret information such as OTP codes, PINs, passwords, and other personal data that can be used to access customer accounts. “With this latest feature, wondr can help customers safeguard their personal data. We also urge customers not to provide secret information to any party, including those claiming to represent BNI,” emphasised Okki. BNI views the strengthening of security systems as an important part of banking digital transformation, in line with the increasing digital transaction activities in society. Through this innovation, BNI reaffirms its commitment to continuously providing secure, convenient, and user-friendly digital banking services, while also increasing customer awareness of various potential cybercrimes.
