BNI strengthens business transformation on 80th anniversary momentum
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has stated that its ongoing transformation serves as the foundation for strengthening the company’s performance and competitiveness, coinciding with its 80th anniversary under the theme ‘Swadharma Bhakti Nagara’. The transformation is being carried out through strengthening digital capabilities, increasing organisational productivity, optimising service networks, and reinforcing risk management to create healthy and sustainable business growth. BNI’s Director of Finance & Strategy, Hussein Paolo Kartadjoemena, said the transformation is not only aimed at improving business performance but also at strengthening the company’s ability to face changes and capture new growth opportunities. ‘The transformation we are undertaking is not only directed at improving business performance, but also at strengthening the company’s ability to face changes and capture growth opportunities. With increasingly strong fundamentals, BNI can make a greater contribution to customers, society, and the national economy,’ Paolo said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, this transformation step is also in line with the strengthening of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) governance through Danantara Indonesia, which is oriented towards long-term value creation. In the retail digital services segment, BNI continues to develop the wondr by BNI application. By the end of 2025, the platform had been used by more than 12 million customers and has supported the growth of retail savings and the strengthening of the company’s low-cost funds. Meanwhile, in the wholesale banking segment, BNI is strengthening its BNIdirect service, which provides cash management, trade finance, bank guarantee, and supply chain financing facilities for corporate customers. Throughout 2025, the number of BNIdirect users and transaction values grew by more than 25 per cent year-on-year, contributing to an increase in corporate current accounts and the quality of business transaction services. This transformation is also reflected in the company’s financial performance throughout 2025. BNI posted a net profit of Rp20 trillion, with the gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improving to 1.9 per cent, while loan at risk (LaR) fell to 8.5 per cent. The positive performance has continued into 2026. As of the end of May 2026, BNI recorded total assets of Rp1,365.36 trillion and third-party funds (DPK) reaching Rp1,063.92 trillion. The company also posted a net profit of Rp9.05 trillion with total equity of Rp160.99 trillion. Paolo said the increasingly strong business foundation serves as capital for the company to continue creating added value for shareholders, customers, society, and the national economy. ‘We believe that a healthy and growing company will be able to provide greater benefits for shareholders, support the national development agenda, and contribute to Indonesia’s long-term economic growth,’ he stated. BNI assesses that the presence of Danantara Indonesia will further strengthen BUMN efforts to increase productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and create sustainable investment value through integrated management. Entering its eighth decade, the company stated it will continue its transformation agenda to strengthen competitiveness and increase its contribution to national development, in line with the spirit of ‘Terus Mengabdi untuk Terus Melayani’ (Continuing to Serve, Continuing to Care).
