BNI Strengthens Business Foundation, Supports SOE Transformation
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, continues to strengthen its implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), risk management, internal controls, and capital structure to maintain healthy and sustainable business growth. The step is in line with the SOE transformation agenda and the creation of long-term value within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem.
One of these fundamental strengthening measures was realised through the issuance of an Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instrument worth US$700 million in international markets.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that good corporate governance is not merely a matter of regulatory compliance, but a foundation for maintaining the trust of the public, investors, and all stakeholders.
“As part of the state-owned enterprise sector, BNI continues to strengthen corporate governance, risk management, internal control effectiveness, digital capability, and capital structure so that the company’s fundamentals grow ever stronger, are managed professionally, and are able to create sustainable added value whilst supporting national development,” Okki said in a written statement.
According to him, this commitment is in line with the direction of SOE transformation alongside Danantara Indonesia. Danantara has a mandate to manage and optimise government investments and SOE assets in support of national strategic programmes, industrialisation, and sustainable economic growth.
Beyond strengthening its capital, BNI is continuing its organisational transformation through the refinement of business processes, the use of digital technology, and improvements in the quality of its human resources. This transformation is aimed at increasing efficiency, strengthening competitiveness, and delivering services that are increasingly relevant to customers’ needs.
Strengthened governance and fundamentals also serve as capital for BNI to carry out its intermediation function in a healthy manner. With a stronger business capacity, the company seeks to broaden access to financial services and support various national development programmes.
“With the spirit of Melayani Sepenuh Hati (Serving with Full Devotion), BNI will continue to strengthen corporate governance and fundamentals to create long-term value for society, support SOE transformation together with Danantara Indonesia, and contribute to Indonesia’s progress,” said Okki.
The commitment forms part of BNI’s journey as it approaches its 80th anniversary on 5 July 2026 under the theme Swadharma Bhakti Nagara. The theme reflects BNI’s spirit of dedication and service to the people and the nation.
Through strengthening governance, capital, and business transformation, BNI seeks to maintain stakeholder trust whilst enhancing its capacity to support Indonesia’s economic growth on a sustainable basis.
