PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has confirmed that the process of refunding customer funds in the alleged deviation case at the Aek Nabara Sub-Branch Office continues in line with developments in the law enforcement investigation. The state-owned bank stated that refunds are being carried out gradually and in a measured manner, based on the results of the investigation. The value of the funds embezzled in this case is estimated to reach around Rp 28 billion. BNI’s Director of Human Capital & Compliance, Munadi Herlambang, said the company understands customers’ concerns and is committed to resolving the fund refunds responsibly. “Developments in the investigation provide clarity on the value of the losses, which serves as the basis for BNI in appropriately resolving the fund refunds,” he stated during an online Media Briefing on Sunday (19/4/2026). BNI stated that the refund mechanism will be formalised in a legal agreement to provide certainty for all parties. Since the case was uncovered in February 2026, the company has also disbursed initial fund refunds as a gesture of good faith. The company emphasised that this case is an individual action outside the official banking system. BNI also assured that customer funds in official products remain safe and unaffected.
