Jakarta – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has increased its credit facilities to PT Pegadaian by 10 trillion rupiah, bringing the total financing extended to 25.1 trillion rupiah.

The bank stated that the credit facility is part of its efforts to strengthen the national financial services ecosystem whilst expanding access to financing for the public.

Abu Santosa Sudrajat, Director of Treasury & International Banking at BNI, said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Monday that this expansion of cooperation represents a strategic step to strengthen collaboration between the two companies in supporting the development of the national financing ecosystem.

“With each company’s respective background and strengths, we can work together to provide broader access to financing and respond to evolving market needs,” Abu said.

Abu added that Pegadaian holds a strategic position as a state-owned pawn-broking company and the industry leader in pawn-broking in Indonesia. This makes the collaboration between the two institutions capable of creating stronger synergies in expanding access to financing.

“Pegadaian has a very strong position as a government pawn-broking company and the industry leader in pawn-broking in Indonesia, so we are confident that this collaboration can provide added value for both parties,” Abu stated.

The collaboration between BNI and Pegadaian is expected to further strengthen the national financing ecosystem and support improved financial inclusion in Indonesia by providing broader access to funding for the public and business operators across various sectors.
