BNI Ensures Return of Rp 28 Billion Aek Nabara Parish Funds This Week
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) has confirmed that the process of returning funds belonging to members of the Credit Union (CU) of Aek Nabara Parish, Rantauprapat, North Sumatra, is continuing in line with developments in the law enforcement investigation. The value of the funds embezzled in this case amounts to around Rp 28 billion. BNI’s Director of Human Capital & Compliance, Munadi Herlambang, stated that the company understands the impact experienced by the CU members and is committed to resolving the return of funds in a measured and accountable manner. Munadi emphasised that the mechanism for returning the funds will be outlined in a legal agreement agreed upon by both parties. According to him, this step is taken to ensure the process runs transparently and provides legal certainty for all involved parties. Munadi explained that since the case emerged in February 2026, BNI has taken initial steps by handing over part of the funds to the CU of Aek Nabara Parish as a gesture of good faith. “From the start, BNI has not remained idle. We continue to carry out the resolution process carefully so that the outcome is not only quick but also legally valid and provides certainty for all parties,” he said. BNI also assured that this case is an individual act outside the official banking system. The product used by the perpetrator is not recorded in the company’s operational system and is not an official BNI service. BNI stated it will continue to monitor the resolution of this case until completion, while upholding principles of prudence, transparency, and consumer protection. The company also commits to strengthening its internal monitoring system and enhancing public education to prevent similar incidents in the future.
