Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - BNI’s Director of Human Capital & Compliance, Munadi Herlambang, has assured that the repayment of funds belonging to members of the Credit Union (CU) Paroki Aek Nabara in Rantauprapat, North Sumatra, will be completed within the next week.

“We are in the process, and it is assured that this week, from Monday to Friday, during working days, we will return the funds,” Munadi stated at the Press Conference: BNI’s Response to the Aek Nabara Resolution, on Sunday (19/4/2026).

In the initial phase, Munadi explained that BNI has already returned Rp 7 billion and will settle the remainder within the next week. He noted that BNI has also been disadvantaged by this incident and is deeply concerned for all customers of Paroki Aek Nabara.

“As a bank that has served the public since 1946, we are committed to complying with existing regulations and taking responsibility for such incidents,” Munadi emphasised.

Meanwhile, BNI’s Corporate Secretary, Okki Rushartomo, stated that BNI has obtained clarity on the losses, enabling it to proceed with the full replacement of funds. He detailed that the Rp 7 billion refund was carried out in accordance with the verification process of fund flows and related matters.

“Of course, we will continue to use processes and accountability in line with regulations. Once again, we advise customers to remain cautious and perform cross-checks, especially for investment offers that promise relatively high returns,” Okki stressed.

BNI will continue to monitor this process until full resolution, prioritising principles of prudence, transparency, and consumer protection in accordance with applicable provisions. This step is also part of BNI’s commitment to strengthening internal oversight systems and enhancing public education to prevent similar incidents in the future.

With the ongoing legal process and measured resolution efforts, BNI is optimistic that the entire process will proceed smoothly, providing certainty and justice for all parties.

Previously, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) urged BNI to promptly resolve the case involving customers at the BNI Aek Nabara Sub-Branch Office to ensure consumer protection and maintain public trust in the financial services sector. OJK has summoned BNI’s Board of Directors and management for explanations and reiterated that resolution steps must be swift, comprehensive, transparent, and responsible.

OJK emphasised that customer protection is the top priority, thus requesting BNI to immediately address the case through thorough verification, fulfilling customer rights in accordance with applicable provisions, and providing periodic updates on handling progress to OJK.
