BNI Director of Human Capital and Compliance Munadi Herlambang said the bank had transferred Rp21.26 billion, completing an earlier reimbursement of Rp7 billion.

Munadi said BNI extends its apologies to the public, particularly the Catholic community and members of the credit union, for the concerns and impact caused by the incident.

“With the completion of this reimbursement, we hope public trust can be maintained, and that this serves as a shared lesson for all parties,” he said.

He added that BNI views the reimbursement as a joint effort to resolve the issue properly.

“BNI will continue to be committed to providing the best services to the public,” he said.

Earlier, BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan confirmed that the funds would be returned on Wednesday.

He made the statement after meeting Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union treasurer Sister Natalia Situmorang.

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has urged BNI to promptly resolve the case.

OJK said it had summoned BNI’s board of directors and management to seek clarification and ensure a swift, comprehensive, transparent, and accountable resolution.

The authority also instructed BNI to conduct a thorough internal investigation into compliance, internal controls, and governance aspects.
