BNI (BBNI) Loans Rise 22.2% in Third Quarter, Led by This Segment
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — In the first nine months of 2026, PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (Persero), or BNI, recorded consolidated lending of Rp992.5 trillion, an annual increase of 22.2%, amid global economic volatility.
According to BNI’s third-quarter 2026 financial performance presentation, wholesale lending was the largest segment, at Rp673.8 trillion, up 30.3% year on year. Commercial and small-business lending grew at single-digit rates of 8.3% and 6.1%, respectively. Overall lending in BNI’s business banking segment totalled Rp810.3 trillion, a 25.7% annual increase.
In the consumer segment, BBNI recorded loans of Rp163.8 trillion at the end of September 2026. Mortgages showed the strongest growth, rising 9.9% year on year, followed by personal loans, up 8.8%, and credit cards, up 7.6%.
BNI Finance and Strategy Director Hussein Paolo Kartadjoemena said the bank had expanded lending selectively across all segments, applying disciplined credit-underwriting standards.
“This strategy helped increase BNI’s loan market share by 113 basis points year on year, to 10.6%,” he said on Tuesday (27 October 2026).
Despite the robust lending expansion, BNI maintained a prudent approach, as reflected in its total allowance-to-loan ratio of 3.8%. This was higher than the industry figure of 3.5%.
The non-performing loan (NPL) coverage ratio stood at 193.3%, indicating sufficient provisions to anticipate potential risks. Asset quality also continued to improve, with the loan-at-risk (LaR) ratio falling from 10.4% to 7.8% and gross NPLs declining from 2.0% to 1.9%.
Over the same period, BNI recorded net profit of Rp16.1 trillion, up 6.6% year on year. BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan said the result reflected the company’s consistent efforts to sustain quality business growth by strengthening its fundamentals and managing risk.
“Amid challenging market dynamics, BNI has maintained its growth momentum by prioritising prudence and discipline in risk management. Our focus is on strengthening our fundamentals and productivity to deliver quality, sustainable growth,” Putrama said.
