PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has affirmed its commitment to applying a zero-tolerance principle against all forms of fraud and corruption as part of efforts to strengthen corporate governance and maintain the trust of customers and the public. This commitment is in line with the strengthening of state-owned enterprise governance under the coordination of Danantara. BNI carries out comprehensive fraud handling, from prevention, early detection, and investigation, to reporting to law enforcement officials in accordance with applicable regulations. Corporate Secretary of BNI, Okki Rushartomo, stated that good governance and integrity are the main foundations that the company has maintained for eight decades. “For eight decades, BNI has been built on a foundation of trust. Therefore, strengthening governance and a culture of integrity is not merely about regulatory compliance, but is part of the company’s identity,” Okki said in a written statement. According to Okki, BNI does not tolerate fraudulent practices or corruption because such actions can harm the company and customers, while eroding public trust in the banking industry. As a preventive measure, BNI continues to refine its internal control systems, strengthen supervisory mechanisms, and improve business processes based on the precautionary principle. The company also utilises technology to enhance early detection capabilities so that potential irregularities can be identified more quickly. “Through the spirit of Swadharma Bhakti Nagara, we are committed to safeguarding the mandate of the people and the state by ensuring every business process is carried out transparently, accountably, and free from fraudulent or corrupt practices,” said Okki. The spirit of Swadharma Bhakti Nagara is the theme of BNI’s 80th Anniversary commemoration on 5 July 2026. The theme reflects the company’s commitment to continuously providing the best service to the public while strengthening the culture of integrity across all lines of the organisation. BNI considers that the effectiveness of fraud prevention is determined not only by systems and technology, but also by the integrity of every employee and consistency in implementing a culture of compliance. Through strengthening governance, supervision, and a culture of integrity, BNI strives to maintain customer trust while supporting a healthy and sustainable banking intermediation function for the national economy.
