BMW Sedan Attacked by Mob in West Jakarta After Hit-and-Run

A BMW sedan was damaged by a mob after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run on Jalan Meruya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk District, West Jakarta, on Monday (22/6).

The incident was captured on video and circulated on social media, including an upload by the Instagram account @lbj_jakarta. The footage shows a black BMW with registration number B-77-NRI suffering damage to its rear window and bodywork.

Several motorcyclists were seen attempting to intercept the vehicle, but the driver ignored them and continued driving.

When confirmed, the Head of Traffic Law Enforcement for the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Joko Siswanto, explained that prior to the accident, an electric vehicle driven by ASW (26) was travelling on Jalan Meruya Selatan from North to South.

“Upon reaching the front of Mercu Buana University, it struck a motorcycle ridden by S, who was travelling from South to North,” Joko told reporters on Monday.

The motorcyclist sustained abrasions to their arms and legs. The victim was subsequently taken for medical treatment at the Kembangan Regional Public Hospital (RSUD Kembangan).

“The preliminary cause of the accident is still under investigation,” said Joko.
