Jakarta – German luxury vehicle manufacturer BMW has recorded 50,000 orders for its new iX3 electric SUV following its launch six months ago. According to reports by Carscoop on Monday 16 March local time, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse stated that production of the iX3 electric vehicle at the Hungarian factory has increased, and deliveries in Europe have commenced. “Orders for the iX3 are full and will continue through this year,” he said. He further claimed that the vehicle, manufactured at the Debrecen facility in Hungary, has proven popular with both private consumers and fleet operators. The factory is capable of producing a maximum of 150,000 vehicles annually. Production of the iX3 is also set to expand, with manufacturing to begin in China and Mexico to support global demand for the electric vehicle. The iX3 50 xDrive model features a large-capacity 108 kWh battery and dual electric motors producing combined output of 463 hp and torque of 476 lb-ft (645 Nm). The vehicle offers a driving range of up to 500 miles (805 km) and supports fast charging speeds of up to 400 kW. The iX3 50 xDrive is positioned in the mid-range, with more affordable versions below it: the 40 and 40 xDrive variants, both expected to feature smaller battery packs at significantly lower prices. At the top of the lineup is the potential M60 model, which could produce more than 600 hp from an upgraded engine.
