Morowali attacker shot dead: Indonesian security forces shot dead
Morowali attacker shot dead: Indonesian security forces shot dead
on Tuesday another member of a gang that killed three people
during attacks in Poso and Morowali regencies, Central Sulawesi.
Madong, 27, was killed while trying to escape arrest during a
raid, said Sr. Comr. Tatang Soemantri of the Central Sulawesi
Police's detectives unit. Madong was suspected of involvement in
attacks on Beteleme village, Morowali, on Oct. 10. He was the
last of 19 people wanted by security forces following the bloody
attacks. Six of the 19 attackers were shot dead during raids.
They were all aged between 20 years and 25 years old. The fresh
killings raised fears of a return to the Muslim-Christian
violence which killed about 2,000 people in Poso in 2000 and
2001.--Antara
