BMKG Weather Forecast for Tuesday, 30 June 2026: Heavy Rain Alert in Several Regions
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has released its weather forecast for Tuesday, 30 June 2026. The atmospheric dynamics closing out June are influenced by the movement of Tropical Cyclone Seed 96W, which is predicted to enter the Philippines, in collaboration with three active cyclonic circulations that are triggering a massive accumulation of moist air.
Based on the latest monitoring, Tropical Cyclone Seed 96W is forecast to make landfall in the Philippines with a central pressure of 1008 hPa and maximum wind speeds around its centre of 15 knots. Its northwestward movement is inducing the formation of extensive confluence and convergence zones across the Sulu Sea, the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines, and the South China Sea.
Domestically, rainfall intensity is also being supported by three cyclonic circulations that have formed in the waters west of West Sumatra, the Makassar Strait, and the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. These three local systems are creating a long belt of convergence and confluence stretching from the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra, along the western coast of Sumatra, the eastern coast of East Kalimantan, the Makassar Strait, to the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. The high supply of water vapour along this wind slowdown path is triggering the very fertile growth of convective rain clouds.
The significant combination of global and local atmospheric phenomena is triggering the potential for extreme weather in several locations. BMKG urges the public to increase vigilance and full preparedness for the potential of heavy to very heavy rain, which places the following regions on alert status.
Residents in these alert zones are advised to anticipate secondary impacts of hydrometeorological disasters, such as overflowing floods, urban waterlogging, sudden strong winds, and the potential for landslides in highland areas.
