BMKG Weather Forecast for North Sumatra: Several Areas at Risk of Rain During Eid al-Adha

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that several regions in North Sumatra are likely to experience light to moderate rain on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Adha. Weather forecaster Endah Paramitha of BMKG Regional Office I in Medan said on Tuesday that the region would be partly cloudy in the morning. Afternoon and evening are expected to be cloudy with light rain in Deli Serdang, Asahan, Karo, Gunung Sitoli, Labuhanbatu, North Labuhanbatu, Langkat, Mandailing Natal, Nias, South Nias, Serdang Bedagai, Padang Lawas, South Tapanuli, North Tapanuli, Toba, and surrounding areas. At night, the weather will remain cloudy with possible light to moderate rain across parts of North Sumatra, including moderate rain in Langkat and surrounding areas. Early hours will also see cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in several areas, with moderate rain possible in Labuhanbatu and South Labuhanbatu. Average temperatures will range from 15 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity between 55% and 99%, and winds blowing from south to northeast at 4 to 9 km/h. Endah Paramitha warned of moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds on the western slopes, western coast, eastern slopes, and mountains of North Sumatra, which could cause hydro-meteorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and gusts.
