The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has released its weather forecast for Indonesia on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. According to the data presented, a number of regions across the country face the potential of light to moderate rainfall, whilst several other areas are predicted to experience hazy conditions through to smoke haze.

BMKG forecaster Ranika explained that weather conditions across Indonesia today are quite varied. The public is advised to remain alert to sudden changes in the weather, particularly those undertaking activities outdoors.

Based on information monitored through BMKG’s official channels, the intensity of rainfall is divided into two main categories: moderate rain and light rain. The following are the details of the affected regions.

Regions forecast to experience moderate rainfall include several major cities in the western and eastern parts of Indonesia.

Beyond the potential for rain, BMKG has also highlighted atmospheric conditions in other regions dominated by thick clouds, as well as reduced visibility due to haze or smoke.

Regions forecast to experience thick cloud cover include Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Jakarta, Serang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Samarinda. Similar conditions are also expected in central and eastern regions such as Denpasar, Mataram, Makassar, Kupang, Gorontalo, Manado, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Merauke.

BMKG forecasts the potential for hazy conditions in Padang, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Banjarmasin, Palu, and Kendari. Meanwhile, the potential for smoke or haze is specifically forecast for Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan.

Given the variation in weather, ranging from rain to the potential for smoke, the following are several anticipatory steps that can be taken:

BMKG has urged the public not to readily trust weather information from unclear sources. “Make sure to always update weather information through our website bmkg.co.id and our social media at @info.bmkg,” Ranika concluded.
