The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) has warned of the potential for extreme weather in various regions of Indonesia during the period from 30 March to 2 April 2026. The public is urged to increase vigilance against heavy rain, strong winds, and the risk of hydrometeorological disasters.

BMKG forecasts that the weather will generally be dominated by light to moderate rain. However, there is an increase in rain intensity to moderate to heavy in several regions, including Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

In the early warning issued, BMKG has set an alert status for the potential of heavy to very heavy rain in West Sumatra and the Papua Mountains. Meanwhile, the potential for strong winds is expected to affect Riau, East Kalimantan, and East Nusa Tenggara.

BMKG assesses that the active atmospheric dynamics in the coming days could increase the risk of hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, landslides, and falling trees.

“BMKG urges the public and stakeholders to increase vigilance against the potential for extreme weather that could trigger hydrometeorological disasters,” stated BMKG officially on Sunday (29/3).

This warning is important as the period coincides with the Eid exodus and holiday. Heavy rain accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds risks disrupting travel on land, sea, and air routes.

BMKG also reminds that weather conditions can change rapidly. Therefore, the public is asked to consider weather factors in planning activities, including travel, worship, and tourism.

To obtain the latest information, the public is advised to monitor weather forecasts and early warnings through BMKG’s official channels, such as the website, InfoBMKG application, and social media.
