BMKG forecasts the potential for rainfall with significant intensity across a number of regions in Indonesia on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The forecast is influenced by activity from several tropical cyclone seeds detected around Indonesian waters. In the daily weather forecast, tropical cyclone seed 92P is expected to be on the northern mainland of Australia and moving eastward. This system is triggering convergence and confluence zones off the southern waters of Nusa Tenggara Timur, the eastern part of Nusa Tenggara Timur, and southern Maluku. In addition, tropical cyclone seed 93S is predicted to remain in the southern Indian Ocean off Java, moving west. This system also drives convergence zones in the southern Indian Ocean waters near Java. Tropical cyclone seed 95W is forecast to form in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua New Guinea, causing convergence zones in the northern Pacific waters off Papua. The combination of these three systems could enhance the growth of rain clouds in several regions of Indonesia.

The agency warns the public to stay alert for potential heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, including: South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Kalimantan.

Elsewhere, some regions are forecast to experience moderate to heavy rain. For western Indonesia, rain with thunder is forecast in several cities such as Tanjung Pinang, Semarang, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, and Tanjung Selor. Moderate rain is forecast in Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. Light rain is possible in Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, Bengkulu, Lampung, Serang, Surabaya, Pontianak, and Samarinda. In eastern Indonesia, thunderstorm rain is forecast for Mamuju and Palu. Moderate rain could drench Makassar, Kendari, and Merauke. Light rain is expected in Gorontalo, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya. Some other cities including Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Manado, and Ambon are predicted to experience heavily clouded conditions.

BMKG urges the public to continue monitoring official weather information channels to anticipate potential extreme weather.
