The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through its Kendari Maritime Meteorology Station has warned of high wave risks across several waters of Southeast Sulawesi Province from 10 to 13 June 2026. Maritime Meteorology Station forecaster Zumiana stated in Kendari on Wednesday that synoptic conditions indicate winds generally blowing from the east to the south, with speeds ranging from 2 to 20 knots. Based on early warning data, high wave potential on 10 June 2026 is expected from 08:00 WITA until 11 June 2026 at 08:00 WITA. “High waves are likely to occur in the Eastern Banda Sea off Wakatobi,” she said. She added that from 11 June 2026 at 08:00 WITA to 12 June 2026 at 08:00 WITA, the high wave potential expands to several areas, including the Eastern Banda Sea off Wawoni, the western and eastern waters of Wakatobi, and the Eastern Banda Sea off Wakatobi. “Meanwhile, for the period from 12 June 2026 at 08:00 WITA to 13 June 2026 at 08:00 WITA, the high wave warning is once again focused on the Eastern Banda Sea off Wakatobi,” she said. BMKG urged the public, particularly maritime transport users and fishermen, to increase awareness of weather and sea wave conditions during this period. “Complete port and sea weather forecast information can be accessed through the official BMKG website,” she added.
