BMKG Warns of Heavy Rainfall in Ciayumajakuning Region During Eid Homecoming 2026
The Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has warned the public in the Ciayumajakuning region (Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan) to remain vigilant regarding potential moderate to heavy rainfall during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus period. The warning also applies to travellers passing through the area.
Muhammad Syifaul Fuad, Head of BMKG Kertajati Meteorological Station, stated that weather conditions during the Eid holiday period require careful monitoring, particularly during the first half of March 2026. Overall, weather during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period is expected to be dominated by light to moderate rain, although the potential for heavy rainfall remains a concern in several regions.
“In March, rainfall across most Indonesian regions, particularly West Java including Ciayumajakuning, is anticipated to remain in the moderate to high category,” Fuad told Republika on Wednesday (11/3/2026).
As April approaches, rainfall is expected to remain in the moderate to high range. Fuad explained that these conditions are influenced by several active atmospheric dynamics, including the Asian Monsoon, Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) activity, and atmospheric waves. Additionally, there is potential for tropical cyclone seed formation in southern Indonesian waters, including Tropical Cyclone Seed 90S currently being monitored in the Indian Ocean southwest of Lampung.
He outlined BMKG’s rainfall projections for March in three phases. From 1–10 March 2026, light to moderate rainfall is expected to dominate conditions.
“Then during the 11–20 March and 21–31 March 2026 periods, weather is expected to remain dominated by light to moderate rain, although occasional heavy rainfall episodes may occur in several areas of Ciayumajakuning,” said Fuad.
