BMKG Warns of Extreme Weather Potential on 28 February across Banten, West Java, to East Nusa Tenggara
The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has forecasted the potential for significant weather events across various regions of Indonesia on Saturday, 28 February. A combination of low-pressure systems and cyclonic circulation is triggering increased growth of rain clouds across several areas.
The public is urged to heighten vigilance against the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall, which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
BMKG is monitoring a low-pressure system over the Indian Ocean south-west of Lampung. This system is forming a convergence zone and confluence area from the Indian Ocean south-west of Banten extending to waters south of western Java.
Additionally, a cyclonic circulation has been detected in the South China Sea, which is also forming convergence and confluence zones in the region.
Other convergence zones are expected to form in:
South Sumatra
Indian Ocean south-west of Bengkulu to south of West Java
Java Sea
Central and South Kalimantan
Makassar Strait
Banda Sea
Maluku
Arafura Sea
Mountainous Papua and South Papua
Meanwhile, confluence zones are expected to form in:
Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu to south of West Java
Eastern Java Sea
Flores Sea
West Nusa Tenggara
East Nusa Tenggara

These conditions are increasing the potential for rain cloud growth throughout the affected regions.
BMKG urges heightened vigilance against the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the regions of:
