BMKG: Several Major Indonesian Cities Potential for Rainfall Today

Light rain is potential in Medan (North Sumatra), Pekanbaru (Riau), Padang (West Sumatra), Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang (South Sumatra), Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Jakarta, and Bandung (West Java).

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that several cities in Indonesia are likely to experience rainfall of varying intensities on Thursday, ranging from light rain to thunderstorms.

BMKG forecaster Yuyun, in a weather forecast video monitored via the BMKG YouTube channel in Jakarta on Thursday morning, stated that for the western region of Indonesia, thunderstorms are potential in Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan), while moderate rain is potential in Serang (Banned).

“Light rain is potential in Medan (North Sumatra), Pekanbaru (Riau), Padang (West Sumatra), Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang (South Sumatra), Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Jakarta, and Bandung (West Java),” she said.

“There is also the potential for hazy air in Bandar Lampung (Lampung), Palangka Raya (Central Kalimantan), and Samarinda (East Kalimantan), as well as the potential for smoke or fog in Pontianak (West Kalimantan) and Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan),” Yuyun added.

For the eastern region of Indonesia, BMKG predicts that light rain is potential in Mamuju (West Sulawesi), Palu (Central Sulawesi), Manokwari (West Papua), Nabire (Central Papua), and Jayapura (Papua).

Furthermore, partly cloudy conditions are also potential in Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi), Gorontalo, Manado (North Sulawesi), Ternate (North Maluku), Ambon (Maluku), Sorong (Southwest Papua), Jayawijaya (Papua Highlands), and Merauke (South Papua).
