The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the onset of the rainy season in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) region will begin gradually in mid-October. “In Jabodetabek, the rainy season generally starts from mid-October in stages. The northern coastal areas will follow later,” said BMKG Deputy for Climatology Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan on Wednesday (19/8/2026). He added that the detailed BMKG prediction regarding the onset of the rainy season nationally will be officially released in the near future. “The rainy season prediction information will be released officially at an event held in early September,” he explained. Meanwhile, BMKG Director of Climate Change Fachri Radjab stated that the arrival of the rainy season across various regions of Indonesia does not occur simultaneously. “The onset of the 2026 rainy season in Indonesia varies, it is not synchronised,” Fachri clarified.
